Notes:

(a) The model number is coded to indicate capacity, maximum operating pressure and termination. Terminations are coded S for Swagelok (compression) fittings, VCR for Cajon VCR couplings, M for male pipe thread and F for female pipe thread.

The termination code includes a number which indicates the size of the pipe or fitting in 1/16's of an inch.

       e.g.  -4SS indicates 1/4" Swagelok tube fittings, both ends.

             -4VCR indicates 1.4" Cajon VCR fittings, both ends.

             -12FF indicates 3/4" female pipe fittings, both ends.

(b) Capacity is defined in terms of the amount of gas that can be treated prior to breakthrough. For convenience, the definition includes the number of hours, gas feed rate and gas moisture content.

         e.g. 100 hrs. @ 100 SCFH @ . 0.1 % water in feed = 1000 SCFH-%-hrs.

               100 hrs. @ 10 SCFH @ 1 % water in feed = 1000 SCFH-%-hrs.

MSD dryers can treat gas flows at rates equal to or smaller than the "capacity" indicated by the code number. An MSD-100 for instance, can treat up to 100 SCFH of gas. If the flow gas rate is larger than 100 SCFH, a larger dryer should be specified, even though the MSD-100 might have adequate calculated capacity on the basis of breakthrough time.

(c) Length includes fittings.
